Traditional schooling heavily favors the verbal-linguistic and logical-mathematical intelligences. These have been emphasized in education since its inception, with all the others being ignored or under-developed.

Now it is proved that there exists a multitude of intelligences, quite independent of each other; that each intelligence has its own strengths and constraints. All Eight intelligences are needed to live life well. Therefore, there is a need to attend to all intelligences, not just the first two that have been the traditional concern.

MI purported by Howard Gardner suggests a more balanced curriculum that incorporates the arts, self-awareness,communication, and physical education.
